Part 23: Wrap Up / End

Wrap-Up/ End:

Josh’s Perspective:

Josh and the rest were sending out reports on what happened throughout their time here. Investigations were held but nothing was to gain from them.

Florence died for a noble cause of protecting his own people, and a funeral was held for him. Most of the proprietors attended it, as Blu was made to speak about him.

A new meeting was held two days prior to the funeral, and proprietors were now on high alert about the Wolf Tamer. Through reports from Carlos, he played the recordings on the goals that the Wolf Tamer had. Every proprietor was now on standby, and had to solidify their Hub Crystals with supporters.

Chen Kwang was also brought up, as the DEA’s image was tarnished once again. This time, Keaton was not in the meeting to back up the company. Rules were established to prevent anyone from killing Dozers without the respective heads of the Town Council to approve of it, unless it was a Human-Dozer which the proprietors can take the appropriate actions.

Through it all, the DEA had their own meeting to discuss what the next direction of the company is.

“Josh.” Keaton said. “Hmm, good work out there.”

“What are you doing here? The proprietors are having a meeting right now.” Josh said, as Keaton was staring at the books on the desk.

“The Injured Doll. One of the classics.” He picked up one of the books and flipped it. “Do you know this story?”

“I don’t particularly read books.” Josh said. “You do know the whole mission was a failure, right? Instead, our name was published on papers and the blame fell on us again, even after we sacrificed our energy and time.”

“The Doll had a sad backstory. It was made by a dollmaker with such care, but ended up in a fireplace once it was handed to a child.” Keaton described the book he was reading. “The doll was creepy, '' said the child. And it was immediately despised and disposed of.”

“Are you listening to me at all?” Josh asked. “Aren’t you going to speak up for the DEA like you used to?”

“The flames of the doll started to burn that very house down, though it had no intention.” Keaton said. “It kept saying it wasn’t his fault, it wasn’t his fault. Bad things just happen, it isn’t my fault. But it could do nothing as the house was caught on fire.”

“What are you…”

“Aren’t we all like this doll?” Keaton asked, as he closed the book. “All screaming in fear and finding excuses to keep ourselves from the harm we’ve caused. I mean… is it really our fault?”

“The Wolf Tamer is still on the loose. Our mission was to find him and assist the proprietors. But we ended up getting Chen Kwang arrested, and Florence dead.” Josh bit his lip in agony. “Why did we go through all that trouble?”

“Hmm.” Keaton said. “And why do you think the proprietors would have survived if we didn’t help them?”

“But…”

“You simply claim all of this as facts. But the truth of the matter is, we aren’t the ones at fault.” Keaton said. “Our names are sullied for the sake of it, and we are all being used as stepping stones for their successes.”

“No matter what I would say to the proprietors, I would come off as simply protecting the “company’s wrongdoings” and it would just be a waste of my breath.” Keaton sighed, as he spun his chair around. “Not that we don’t use dirty tricks to get what we want though.”

“What is the DEA’s goal anyways? Are we just a company to be made to look like fools?”

“Hmm, I like the word epicenter.” Keaton said, as he flipped a whiteboard in his room. On it were a bunch of people’s faces that he recognized.

“You ask what our goals are…” Keaton said, slamming the whiteboard with his hand. “This is.”

“Those are just people that we helped during the missions.” Josh said. “How does any of this help?”

“Connections, Josh.” Keaton said, as he stuck a few more faces onto the board. “We are going to increase our reputation.”

“Not everyone welcomes us.” Josh said. “Not after this whole incident was broadcasted.”

“You are wrong, Josh.” A female voice sounded from the back of the room, as Keaton greeted her with respect.

“I am one of your greatest witnesses of the DEA’s bravery.” Peng Goh grinned. “So what is your next grand scheme, Keaton?”
